All,

Today, my wife and I took out the venerable and lightly modded 2025 RAM 1500 Limited on a road trip to Dallas so I could pick up my work computer I left behind at work yesterday. We went into the city of Ft Worth to do some shopping at Marshalls, HomeGoods, and Ross. We then had Chick-fil-A and downed some yummy chicken strips and waffle fries and lemonade aid and iced tea. Yum!

It was an absolutely beautiful day for a drive. Nice and sunny, 75-92 degrees, light winds out of the north, and low humidity—a perfect trip for a high-performance luxury truck full of tech wanting to be utilized.

The trip there and back was 305 miles, mostly highway and light city driving. I decided to put my Level 2 Autonomous driving tech to use and see how this AWE performance exhaust, K&N Gen III CAI, and Diablo Sport CAT6 Tuner on Level 3 would function together for the best average mileage.

I put the truck in self-driving mode halfway there and all the way back, minus city stuff.

On the highway, I set the self-driving speed to 75-86mph. The system worked near flawlessly. It steers well in corners, lane changed pretty accurately, brakes, and accelerates moderately well in traffic. There is a sensor mounted on my steering column that looks at eye contact. Turn your head for too long, and you get dash flash warnings and a seat buzz alarm—very intuitive. I, of course, was super focused with my hands on my lap and my foot near the brake pedal, to take over. It was so amazing once I got used to it and, of course, trusting the system to work for you.

The only thing I noticed it somewhat struggles with is keeping the truck centered in its lane; it’ll drift a little bit, but recovers and centers gracefully. Just amazing!

So with that, my average mileage in my truck, city, and highway is 14.5-15.7 mpg. I obviously drive very spiritedly and naturally love this near 600hp/tq SST H.O. in sport mode.

However, today, I had the wife, and she is not so spirited like me, as this truck easily part-throttle will boost up to 104mph without hesitation—I really hate that top speed limiter.

Mileage Scores: 20mpg average/combined
Fuel: Shell V-Power 93 octane
Suspension: Aero in Normal mode
Trans: 2-Wheel drive.

I beat the manufacturer’s estimated combined MPG by 3 MPG. I was so impressed. The mods of letting this bulletproof SST motor breathe WORKED! Money well spent, which was about $2750. Killer truck! Go RAM!

I asked my wife how she felt about the trip, and she said, “It was really great, I feel great—truck is so smooth and quiet!” I said, “Yeah, me too, the truck self-drove us all the way home!” She says, “WHAT! What do you mean the truck drove us home?!” Yeah, “I put the truck in self-driving mode all the way home!” She was like Wow, didn’t even notice. I said Yeah, baby, "I had my hands on my lap the whole time. Amazing huh? Yes, she said, “Truly!”

Getting my hard-earned money back is well spent. I love this TRUCK! Try it, guys, the more you use it, the better it works, like with all things!

I have been on several road trips in mine and love the tech and self driving. You never have to touch the steering wheel or pedals. In construction it will bring you to a complete stop and them take off again. You are correct, the truck loves to hug the line on the drivers side. Once you begin to trust the tech it is a very enjoyable experience. I also hate the sensor on the steering wheel. It constantly thinks I am not looking ahead when I actually am. Ram needs to tweak the sensitivity of that sensor.

Yes, definitely. It was my first time experiencing, and frankly, I didn't have the confidence in trying it out, and boy, I'm glad I did. Yes, it needs some fine-tuning. I came from a 2019 RAM Laramie so none of that existed with that year/model or even in today's model line-up. I've had this truck since April and I'm still learning all of what it offers, thus far, because I'm a nationwide traveler, this tech brings some seriously amazing benefits all the while, the inherent demon of pure power and torque at the ready waiting to be released! I will say, the 104mph speed limiter is fricken annoying! I really hope the aftermarket will offer ECU unlock options now that the Hemi is back.

Amazing! I will try, thank you
