Good evening,

I bought a new 2025 Ram 1500 today. About 10 minutes into my drive away from the dealership it started to get dark. Cabin lights dimmed ( I'm assuming because of the sensor on the Dash?) and I noticed the left side of the steering wheel that you would use to control the information screen in the instrument cluster was flashing. The buttons work and I'm able to use it, its just the backlit feature. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this? I have a video but it won't let me upload it. In the picture below its the part that has the “ok” in the middle and the phones next to it. Its that entire cluster. Thanks for any help you could give.

That sounds like either a bad connection in the Steering wheel where that module plugs up, or the switch itself could be faulty. I would say the best thing to do is take it to the Dealership and have them inspect it and fix it for you. For them it should be a pretty easy fix, and ultimately if the switch is faulty they can fix it under warranty. Now if all the lights on the dash are flickering I would say its a bad ground somewhere. That might take a bit to hunt down, but again new truck Warranties make that not your problem to fix...

About the only thing you might want to check before you do that is interior light brightness dial (near the Headlight switch) that you use to bring up the lights in the cab. Try turning it up and down and see if that resolves it. Otherwise I would try to have the dealership look at it.

Good luck getting it resolved!
