If your oil pressure and temp were normal, why did you put in more oil? Granted you had one sensor saying one thing, but if the two that matter (temp/psi) are good, might not want to add anything. Hopefully the dealer replaces the sensor and understands why you added oil.I just did an initial oil change last Friday at 900 miles on my 2025 1500 3.0l HO. I checked oil life and level yesterday to see if the shop reset that.
Everything fine, 100% life, level right at max.
Today, out of nowhere I get Low Oil Level Add 2 Quarts warning.
I pull over into a gas station, look under the truck, no leaks. The oil level gauge showed ZERO oil in the truck. There was no puddle in my driveway when I left.
I added 2 quarts, it showed no improvement on the gage.
My dad was in the truck with me on the way to a vet appointment.
I drove slowly about 30 miles monitoring all temps and oil pressure - right where they should be.
So now I think I got a faulty warning light and 2 too many quarts of oil in the engine.
GIVE US A DIPSTICK.
Fully understand that, but in light of seeing the pressure and temp normal...at least for me, I wouldn't add oil. Again, hope it all gets worked out..clearly a bad sensor. Maybe I missed it, but you have less than 2000 miles on it...would you have ever had the first oil change? This is what it said to do. I'm at the dealer now having a second oil change in 4 days.
Just to drain 2 qts it specifically instructed me to add.
Dude, back it down. He did what the $80k-$100k, engineer-designed truck said to do. And he clearly started the conversation with the fact he had an early oil change, presumably to clear out break-in oil.Fully understand that, but in light of seeing the pressure and temp normal...at least for me, I wouldn't add oil. Thanks for your input, but I'll continue to ask reasonable questions.Dude, back it down. He did what the $80k-$100k, engineer-designed truck said to do. And he clearly started the conversation with the fact he had an early oil change, presumably to clear out break-in oil.
Truth told, underfilled by 2+ quarts is way worse than overfilled by two. His response was reasonable.
I'd say, 2qtas low, as long as oil pressure is still good, it shouldn't be an issue. Not sure on the Hurricanes, but the Hemis take 7qts, it will run with 5qts and not starve the engine of oil.Dude, back it down. He did what the $80k-$100k, engineer-designed truck said to do. You are free to not put 2 quarts in your truck if it tells you to. Hassling him for doing that is a bit on the tarded side. Yes, you are starting to hassle him. He answered the question of why he did it, and then showed a picture of the actual specific direct warning. I think he's running out of ways to explain why he did what he did. Ray Charles can pretty much see why at this point. Hopefully you can, too. Thanks for your input, but I'll continue to ask reasonable questions.
I was particularly impressed by the assumption that the low oil warning, low lack of any oil at all showing on the oil level gauge, and the direction to specifically put the 2 qts in were the error and not the oil and engine temps being in error. Also by the fact he has apparently never seen what can come out in the oil with the first oil change and why it's a good idea to not have that scratching around for 7,000 miles. You are free to not put 2 quarts in your truck if it tells you to.
