2023 Tow mirror won't lock into place

I have a '23 Big Horn with the annoying tow mirrors. My passenger side mirror has gotten beaten up. Now it won't lock into place. So when a passenger gets in and shuts the door, the mirror will move an inch or so, I have to push it back and/or adjust the mirror, which is getting annoying.

Is there a known fix for this? I've thought of just using a rubber band or wrapping something else around where it pivots. It would just have to be something that snaps if that mirror actually gets a real hit.

I've thought of replacing them with the non-tow mirrors, but that looks rather expensive. Even if I get used mirrors on Ebay. So might still do that because my wife doesn't like driving it with the tow mirrors.

The gears in these mirrors are trash they are plastic and known to break. A company sells metal replacement gears and will fix it but the repair is very time consuming. And that kit is fairly expensive.

Looks like they only make parts for the power folding mirrors. Mine are manual fold. I emailed them though to see if maybe the ring to lock it in place would work.

So probably looking at dealing with it, or buying new mirrors.
