Trying to understand Ram trucks, and don't understand what the "classic" means. Are the 2019+ classic models still considered Gen 5? Are the non-classic models just higher trim levels than the classic models? Or are there more substantial changes with Gen 5?

Am trying to understand how a 2023 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock differs from a 2023 Ram 1500.

Any insight would be appreciated.

The "Classics" are the old previous 4th gen trucks, known as the DS models. The are still being made and sold today, mostly for a cost & value proposition. Also a way for RAM to compete in the mid-size truck market, at least based on price. The 2023 1500 Classic Warlock and the 2023 RAM 1500 are very different inside and out.

The 5th gen DT are current gen trucks that began production for the 2019 model year, though the motor and transmissions options are generally carry over with some improvements over the 4th gen, they are completely different model of truck inside and out. They come in basic trims all the way up to high end trims.

There will be a mid-cycle refresh for the current DT 5th gen trucks for the 2025 model year, however it is not considered a redesign or 6th gen.

The 4th gen Classics, are ending production. I don't remember if they are building 24s at all. The plant they are built at, will be used for the new electrics, that start being built there in the fall of next year.
