I just put a new reman 5.7 Hemi in my 2022 Ram 1500. It now has 300 miles in it. Since I first started it, it has ticked which I'm having a hard time discerning between lifter and exhaust.
I put BBK shorty headers on it, because of the notorious issues with stock manifolds, but they were junk and replaced those with JBA shorty headers.
I used Remflex gaskets and have checked for exhaust leaks.
With a stethoscope the tick is louder on the exhaust runners than it is on the valve covers.
It also sounds pretty uniform from left to right side of engine as far as ticking goes.
Is hard to tell where it's coming from while looking at the engine from the front but it is louder in both wheel wells.
Also, there is absolutely 0 tick at cold start up, it only ticks when hot.
I am using conventional 5w20 oil as per crate engine warranty guidelines so the rings break in. I know full synthetic is what it calls for when normal operating.

Any ideas or guidance is much appreciated. I need to rule out lifter tick if I'm going to try to use warranty on this.
I can't figure out how to add video or audio for sound.

Generally speaking the exhaust manifold tick happens when cold and goes away or greatly reduces noise when warm . Lifter tick happens when warm .

Thank you for the reply. Yes this tick only appears when the engine is at operating temperature. I have had an exhaust shops look at it and said it's not an exhaust leak, although I'm not convinced.
I just can't pinpoint where exactly the rick is or which side of the engine.

are you absolutely certain it’s ticking or is it just regular engine noise

It is a definite tick that is louder and isn't there until the engine warms up.
I wish I could post a video or audio of it.
It has 300 easy break in miles on it will no check engine light.
A lot of those miles are from when it was cold and then warmed up while driving, so I'm hoping if it is lifters, the cam isn't damaged. There is no check engine light on and it runs perfect.
Using a stethoscope the noise is louder on the side of the heads or on the headers than it is on top of the valve covers.

a friend of mine needed a motor we shopped around and it's hit or miss on the remans there is no way to know the quality of the cam and lifters they use or any of the other parts . we lucked out and found a NEW mopar crate engine for 5k.

I wonder if if be better if just getting some Mopar lifters and putting them in for piece of mind hopefully before I sustain any cam damage if I haven't already.
I sounds hear tomorrow what the warranty company says.
I just since some knowledge as power for what they try to tell me.

that's what i would do. mopar lifters are also priced a little high but i live in the 90's lol. even on the new not reman motor we swapped the oil pump to a melling high volume. threw on some BD diesel manifolds
we almost pulled the heads and to throw in some johnson lifters but he wanted to keep the MDS???

What brand lifters do you recommend? I don't mind not using the Mopar but want good quality as well.
