I searched around but couldn't find anyone in my situation.

I just downsized trucks. Went from 2022 Ram 2500 Laramie with UConnect 5, Alpine speaker system with sub to a lease trade-in 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie.

(The UConnect 5 to 4 adjustment is significant, and I will be looking for ways to upgrade that. Wow. Just wow.)

That's another thread, though.

My current question is around the subwoofer. I don't have one. At least, there's not one under the rear passenger seat like there was on my 2022. But I have the Alpine system (it's a Laramie), and the build sheet says I have the 9 speaker Alpine system with Sub.

Did they make these trucks without subs? Is the sub somewhere else? Did the previous owner take out the sub and then trade it back in?

I don't want to go nuts - just the factory sub was fine in my 2022. I'd love to have that back. I can get one on eBay for a hundred bucks or so, but I'd like to know where to look to make sure I can hook it up.

Thanks!

It’s behind the rear passenger seat against the rear wall of the cab

Holy crap, really? I thought I saw something that could be it, but it must be really, really low profile. Comparatively, the one on the 2022 Ram 2500 was much bigger, and directly under the seat.

Thanks!

It could be on the back wall as mentioned. I just thought I've seen mentioned or picture of 5th Gen having the same as previous. There is a small cord to pull on to put seat down I believe.

Thanks so much for the assistance. Definitely behind the seat. Can't believe the difference in sound between this and the under-seat one. Now I know why so many people are upgrading. Not sure I'll go that far. I like to keep things factory-ish

Definitely much better upgrades, depending how far you want to go and spend. car stereo wichita falls wichita falls car stereo car stereo car has a behind seat replacement. If you want a cheap upgrade Skar audio with an aftermarket amp. PAC Audio AmpPro or SubPro for an almost Plug n Play hookup.

I'm sure this is covered elsewhere in here, but since we're in a conversation - are there drop-in options that don't require rewiring, a new amp, turning off ANC, etc.?

None. Some have tried to just swap the speaker with Pioneer, which I did in 4Th Gen and really wasn't worth the cost or hassle.

I wonder if keeping the speaker and using a larger under-seat box would work? I'm no sub engineer, and I'm sure the audiophiles are puking in their mouth right now. With that, though, nothing would have to change.

Or what if I just bought the OEM sub for the 2022 HD Rams and hooked that up?

I'll have to explore that a bit.

I doubt the OEM HD sub would be a plug n play. Probably different plugs. You could possibly try an aftermarket sub box. I'm not sure if anyone has ever done that. If you're going to mess with it, Aftermarket sub/amp would be best route and you wouldn't have to spend much, unless you chose to.

I'm sure you're right, but that gets more complicated, and I didn't want to turn this into a huge project that involves wiring, disabling ANC, etc.

I might just give this a shot. If I can get the OEM speaker out cleanly and make a new box that's a bit larger for under the sink, that might be a quick and dirty low-touch solution that doesn't involve buying anything, losing functionality, or even rewiring (maybe an extension, but that's simple enough).

Disabling the ANC is just a simple plug, but worth a shot. Nothing to lose, but time,

Some have just added the polyester batting to the factory box to make it seem like it is a larger box. But like swapping with a different sub, it's not earth shaking difference. From what I've read it just gives a little deeper bass. You can also try upgrading the front door speakers which are mid-bass drivers and will cover more of the frequencies in most music.
