I have a 2020 Rebel Ecodiesel, 60k miles. It has a “Electronic Lock Rear Differential” feature that is for extreme off road situations and it says in the manual not to engage on pavement. I’ve tried to use it, but it sucks.
I’m looking at changing the open diff to a Detroit Truetrac Limited Slip differential. Anyone else do this? What do I need to do with the electronic locking rear diff system if anything?
Do I need to removed the pinion gear?
Can I reuse the bearings? They make a nice kit for all the parts needed for $200, that seems reasonablish.
Any words of wisdom? I have a lift that makes this kind of work much easier. Just got done putting new seals in my 1999 Dodge Ram Cummins Dana 60 front end.
Thanks in advance for any comments and info.
