On my 2019 Ram 1500, I swapped out the 275/65r18 load range C tires for 275/70r18 load range E tires (Same as the Rebel). I called the dealer and they said they could recalibrate for the new tires. Today, 8/27 after an hour at the dealer they told me the wiTech would not allow them to do the calibration on this vehicle. I asked about using an aftermarket programmer and was told be careful, will void the warranty. I call FCA customer care and explained the situation. I asked for them to confirm if this was possible and if maybe the dealer simply did not know how to do it. The customer care representative told me they were not allowed to do this for legal reasons. I asked if my case could be escalated to a technical resource and was told the he would be fired if he escalated the case. Not what I was expecting there. He told me I needed to work with the dealer.

While camping on 8/24, I went to unlock the truck. Nothing, dead. I used the key to get in, no power. I was going to jump start the truck off the camper battery but tested it first with a meter and it was not dead. I continued testing as I do not have any wiring diagrams. What I found was there was no nut installed on stud number two of the high current fuses. When I poked at it with the meter probe I made sparks. I bent the tab so it made contact with the stud and the truck started. I called customer care and they said take it to the dealer. I took it to the dealer and they had no service on Saturday but the salesman was nice enough to let me take the needed nut off another truck (very nice).

On 8/7 while preparing for a road trip and checking the engine oil, I found an Apex brand socket left on the engine from assembly. I called FCA and they said take it to the dealer. I did. The mechanic said what am I supposed to do?

I have never had this much lack of confidence in a brand new vehicle. The level of quailty, customer care and support is disappointing.

I would love to talk to someone at FCA that is interested in doing something about these issues.

So back to the beginning. Is it possible to change speedometer calibration from the wiTech? How? Do you need to purchase some service contract as with the Jeeps? If the dealer can't do it, which programmers are reliable? Rough Country, Hypertech, Tazer DT?

I used Rough Country. My dealer said they use the Rough Country as well. Does your dealer have any brand new lifted trucks on the lot? How do they fix those speedo's and not void the warranty. Sounds like your dealer sucks. Find another dealer with a cool shop.

The dealer I bought from does not sell any modified new vehicles. I am trying to work with two other dealers within an hour of where I live. If I don't get anywhere with the dealer being able to calibrate by the end of next week I will buy an aftermarket programmer and do it my self. I like the simplicity of the Rough Country and the fun features of the Tazer DT. I sold the OE tires so I got that going for me. Less stuff in the garage, more cash in pocket (burning).

Best of luck and either way you'll get it worked out.

Sounds like another bad dealership.

Also what’s sort of interesting, In the ford owners manual (and I would assume ram too) there’s a whole clause about non ford parts potentially voiding warranty claims even if sold/installed by a ford dealer.

But your warranty is never really void, or lost or whatever. The only thing they do is deny certain claims based on whatever was altered. There’s really nothing to deny here, if you’re really paranoid I’d just buy a tool online and have the dealer install it. Have them note they used said tool and only corrected speedometer with no other flash changes. Then they can’t really come back with much down the road.

Otherwise just flash it yourself like you said and roll out. The Tazer seems pretty cool in the 24 hours I’ve had it installed.

I got new wheels and bigger tires recently that I will only use in the summer (will put the stock ones back on for winter). Speedometer was way off so I bought the rough country calibrator. I am a novice with these types of things and it took me about a whole 10 minutes to re-calibrate, it really is simple. Worked like a charm, speedometer is back on dead nuts. I plan on doing this twice a year each time I switch out the tires. Everything else is working fine, no issues.
