Sad to say I have a 2019 ram 1500 limited 5.7 v8, with ONLY 78k MILES needs a new engine… I took it to the dealer after hearing a ticking sound coming from the top of my engine.. at first I thought it was the exhaust manifold because it’s the same type of ticking sound.. but unfortunately it was coming from the engine so the ram dealership in my town tore down the engine to see what was going on.. on the tear down the mechanics found that one of the lifters appeared to have been bad and they had found a lot of metal shavings in the “OCV” which cause the engine needing to be replaced. The dealer told me that the vehicle is not recommended to be driven until the engine is replaced.. they dealer is quoting me over 11k$ in labor and all the parts.. and better yet some of the parts with the engine replacement are on back order so go figure.. luckily I have extended warranty that should cover this as I have all my service records for all of my oil changes that have been done on time.. but this is just ridiculous.. I bought the truck in 2022 with 30k miles and have had nothing but problems since owning it as it is now September 2024 it’s been in the dealer more times than I can count on hand for things. Making this an unreliable expensive vehicle for me.. luckily I purchased extended warranty but it really makes me want to get into something different and not have to deal with this truck anymore.. which is sad because I love the truck other than the little problems it throws at me.
