I've seen a few posts regarding RAM owner's rusted oil pans. I've noticed that mine has a good amount of rust as well. I used a wire brush on it yesterday and brushed away thin layers of rusted metal. I was just going to paint it with Rustoleum, but now I'm thinking I might bring it to the dealer to see if it can be replaced under warranty. I have an extended Mopar warranty. Anyone have their replaced under warranty or out of pocket from the dealer? I imagine that it's not cheap considering the amount of labor to replace the pan.

Mine was bad, so off to see the dealer. I have an extended warranty as well. I was told they will only replace the oil pan if the rust causes a leak. Great answer for the company using non-treated oil pans that started rusting on the lot.

I wire brushed it and painted it with POR-15. So far it is still holding oil….

Rust is not covered by service contracts.

Rust not covered is true - however in 2019 Ram sold a number of trucks with oil pans that were never treated and have been rusting out as a result. The dealer told me once it starts to leak they can replace it under warranty.

I just ordered some POR-15 and I'm going to do the same. Good idea.

I wonder if they would cover the one on my 2014 I just replaced? I have not seen any documentation on untreated pans being used. I have seen a lot of Hemi oil pans.

Just got my truck I'll have to check it out but if it's rusty I'm just going to take it off and have it zinced and powder coated
