I have a 2019 Ram Big Horn crew cab level 1 sports pkg, I have 600 miles after the first 2-300 miles I’m getting this sound in 3,4,5,6 gears about 1250-1500 rpms and eco is on when it happens... my normal exhaust sound changes to a hum or low volume rice burner exhaust sound sometime louder than other time or sounds like rumple strips on side of the hwy when you run over them... I’m not sure if my Ram has active noise canceling or not.. it doesn’t say it does on the window sticker and I’m not sure how to tell if it does

Friends in back say it sounds like exhaust, it’s w radio on or off, Ac on or off.. warm or cool Florida weather.. in park and revving the motor doesn’t do it

I can make it do it most time at about 35 mph w cruise control usually 4/5 gear

Just not frequent enough to take to dealer as I don’t want them to keep it a week

Any suggestions or ideals ... from this forum I’m leaning toward active noise.. but not sure my truck has it or a bad amp?

That is the cylinders shutting down for economy

I am fairly new here myself and just hit a 1000 miles today, but others have suggested when you post to give some more details about your Ram--like 4 by 4--, engine, etc. I have not heard any noise when traveling at 35 MPH myself and you can find the specs of my Ram in my signature. But from one newbie to another--welcome and hope you get that concern solved.

We have it too like a droning like sound it's irritating I think it'd with the exhaust gonna take it to dealer when we can

I’m not sure it comes in waves sometimes, while in cruise control mostly.. why wouldnt it make the sound the whole time while in 4 cyl mode... if it was a constant sound I’d agree... one sec it’s sounds like a hemi and the next a droning sound during switch it’s stay in eco.. which make me think it’s stays in 4 cyl.

I did read in a another thread about opening the window slightly and the drone sound goes away... I tried it twice today about a sec or so after I crack the window the drone sound went away and closed it and it came back
Gonna experiment more with the window thing..

Can anyone tell me a way to confirm If I have active noise cancellation ...something to look for ?

All big horns have ANC I believe. Easy way, look at headliner, if you have 4 mics, you have ANC.

I've also got the Eco mode rumble, it seems to be a specific rpm range so I believe it's just the exhaust.

I had the same sound. At one point it was really loud, then it became sporadic. It has not happened in quite some time and of course the dealer "could not replicate". Dealer tried to tell me if was my BFG KO2's which was a joke. It had nothing to do with my tires.
Good luck. My suggestion would be to take it to dealer while it is happening.

Opening the window will turn off ANC.

Putting the truck in gear limit 8 with the steering wheel control will disable the MDS.

With these two tests you should be able to determine if it's related to a combination of the ANC and/or MDS, then speak to your dealer.

We've got 2600 min on out hemi ram bighorn and lately we get the drone off and on at highway speeds I think it's exhaust we'll get it checked out

I get the same drone - 2019 Sport (1,000km). I pulled the F12 fuse (ANC/sub amp) last night and will see if driving today(200km) helps at all.

I still think it’s exhaust related - sometimes feels like switching from dual to single exhaust paths (don’t even know if that is possible ).

Drone I say is about 40% of what it was - just “ normal “ exhaust and ECO mode switching with F12 fuse pulled.
I’m 99% sure my issue is ANC module amplifying and creating the annoying noise /vibs/drone.

Would be interested in hearing if others have pulled fuse that have experienced the drone and feel it has improved also.

You kind out if pulling that fuse got rid of the drone sound.. try rolling down the drivers window three to four inches and see if that makes it go away.. it does on mine.. I’ve read that a sign of a bad anc because rolling the window shuts off the anc (active noise cancellation...

I don’t buy it the mds thingy switching to 4 cyl because it would do it in all hemis and it doesn’t

I put the fuse back in a lunch and seems like the drone came back again.... its cool here in Ontario Canada and can’t drive around with window down plus it changes the whole feel of the truck with the window slightly down than fully sealed.

Less than a minute to pop hood, press two small clips on fuse box cover, pull f12 fuse (once you locate it), cover back on and hood down.

Way Less time than filling up windshield washer fluid - and then I know I’m comparing apples to apples (ie drone in same interior conditions).

So when you pulled f12 the drone sound went away? And it came back when you replaced it?
Where in Ontario do you live, I have family in Orillia and I’ve been all over the Providence... it’s beautiful country up there but too damn expensive for this southern boy!! How the heck do you afford gas for that hemi‍♂️

My friend had one and disconnected the amp to disable the anc and it went away for him.. seems like a common problem and sounds like we both need to go to the dealer and get some work done.. keep up with me on what you get done and I’ll do the same

Yes drone went away when fuse pulled. About 300 km drone free (Sunday/Monday driving) just normal as expected sound from exhaust and mds/eco mode.

When I put fuse back in at lunch - the small drone and vibs seemed to have come back.

I was unaware of ANC. That sounds plausible.

Well guys I went to dealer, the tech went on a 30 min road trip and no drone sound.. lol, he told me he was doing more research but he was sure it’s the active noise control and he said for me to wait til it made the sound again.. and it did on the way home from the dealer.

The tech said to disconnect the amp under the drivers seat.. unplug the the two cannon plugs in the amp.
I have disconnected the amp and went on a road trip on back roads today 40 miles at different speeds in different gears in same rpm range 1250 -1500 for me ) that it was making the drone sound w amp plugged up .. so I did a 40 mile trip on back roads w cruise on as describe above and zero drone sound ... gonna do two more days testing and call the tech and give him a report
So in short if your getting a drone sound unplug the amp and see if it goes away
