Hello I’m new here so bare with me if I put this under the wrong thread. I have searched this forum and don’t see this mentioned....
I have a 2020 Ram 2500 Deisel. It has the engine block heater installed but no cord. On the mopar website they have a heater cord (part number 68223419AA) which is about $42. The cord is listed for 2015-2018 models. Now for the 2019-20 engines the part number is 68409910AB and this cord is $97.85. I called the dealer and asked the parts guy what the difference was and he couldn’t tell me. I called Mopar parts and they couldn’t tell me. Other than the price is there really a difference in these cords?

If your window sticker listed the block heater then you should have a cord. Unlike my '15 which had the cord shoved behind the grill the 2020 has it zip tied to the passenger side fender well right by the junction of the firewall and fender, next to the overflow tank.

My window sticker does not list the block heater but is it there right next to the oil filter with a blue rubber cap over it.

Sorry I cant help with the original question. I do know that the block heater option is $95 which is in line with what they want for the cord. I also know that for earlier models, people we're buying a cord that cost abut 15$ and using that. You will not need the block heater unless it drops to -10 or so for a few days and even at that, I see -20 here in NH and don't plug my truck in. More important for your comfort is the winter or cold weather front.

Thank you anyway.

Thanks for the photo. I just spotted something on your EcoDiesel that isn't on the gas motor versions.

Best regards,

I have a 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel as well. All the new Cummins motors have the heater element installed. On my truck it is in the block next to the oil filter covered by a rubber cap. I too searched for a cord and bought Mpn 68409910AB which supersedes the AA part number. My Laramie did not come with the cord.

I'm currently looking for info on exactly where/how to route and mount the cord. This Mopar OEM cord has the plastic plugs and ties installed and from what I've read, the frame is drilled to accept these ties and plugs already.
