This might be repetitive but I've searched and I couldn't find this exact problem...

I recently bought a 2019 1500. It's awesome. I love it. The original window sticker shows Uconnect 4C with nav. On the test drive dealer told me it was just never set up by the previous owner who used carplay. The nav icon was on the screen, just didn't appear to be active.

I had heard that nav needs to be set up and activated if the original owner didn't do it. So I thought that's what was happening. I purchased the vehicle and got it home and went to set up and activate the navigation by calling Uconnect. UConnect customer service put me in dealer mode and I read off radio components to them. I was advised that even though the original sticker shows Uconnect with navigation, this particular model did not have the hardware for navigation.

UCOnnect customer service told me to take it to a dealer to see if they could install a component or switch out radios. Has anyone ever heard of this before? I'm really frustrated.

Possible original owner changed something too. Maybe switch parts because it broke. Who knows. Just use your phone like most of us because without paying for an update, it's probably outdated anyway.

I mean, I get it. But that doesn't help in the hills and mountains with no signal.

It does if you use offline maps. I've never had a phone not work no matter where I've been.

That's weird, never had to do anything special to make it work. I personally would just use your phone (Carplay or Android Auto) and use Google maps, you couldn't pay me to use the factory NAV again. The only positive thing about the 8.4" NAV setup is the shiny black bezel makes the screen look bigger than it is.

I think that's an $800 bezel from what I recall from window sticker.

If you tell me your VIN and the part number of the radio (Its on the rear sticker on the radio) I can tell you what type of radio it is, what the vehicle should have came with and what you need to get built in navigation if you are interested. Feel free to DM me.
