0456 Code

I got the malfunction light then checked for codes and 0456 was evident. I bought the Esim part that goes under the truck. Well the area where it goes has a high shield around it. It wasnt like any of the youtube videos that show a half sheild. I had a friend over that wanted to recheck codes and inadvertently removed the code. Well after that i remembered that I have an extended warranty to 100,000 (currently at 98160). The dealer says bring it in when code reappears. Well it has been over a month and at least 300- 400 miles and no code. Shouldn't the code have come back by now???

That code is for a small EVAP leak. On many cars, replacing the gas cap or seal fixes it, but we don;t have a cap. I suspect your inner flapper wasn't seating right. It tried to run the test, failed twice in a row, and set a code. The next time you added gas, it closed properly and now you have no problem. Reconnect your scanner and see if the monitors are complete. If the EVAP monitor shows complete and there are no codes or pending codes, there is no problem anymore.
