I have the same issue as OP on my 22 Rebel. Right side has about 1/8" gap (1/4" on left). No paint rub so far, however I get a Tailgate Ajar warning if I don't close it pretty hard so something is not lined up right. Only had the truck for 2 days so eventually I will take it back in for that.

Yep - Originally the build date was 5/6, then they changed it to 5/9 then 5/20 so I was surprised to get the call to come pick it up on 5/19 as I was going to wait another week before checking again.

Update - Just got a call from my dealer. Truck is in! I guess the 5/20 build date was just a suggestion....

Hopefully they will have a good day on the assembly line that day! 😁

I guess false hope on my part. My Rebel ship\build date got pushed from 5/6 to 5/9 to 5/20. At least my 2004 is holding up nicely :) in the meantime.

Just to give others some hope - Ordered my Rebel 3/25, took about a week to get the VIN, checked today (4/21) and is in D1 status with a ship (build) date of 5/6. We shall see....
