I'm 1,867 lbs payload still the highest here lol. We need a tradesman quad to post numbers! I will say I have plenty of creature comforts for the payload I have.
The 5th gen is better than the 4th gen in handling sag with its progressive rate rear springs. That said I still run airlift 1000 HD airbags to further cushion and stiffen the rear end when towing.
Update, so two other members have replied that they had no CEL doing the following:
One only remove the top two slats for his vararam intake.
The other removed all except the middle and very bottom one. (I just did this)
I will update if the CEL clears...
Popcenator,
Just to reconfirm before I reassemble, below is what you did?
Middle and bottom still in place and no CEL?
Did the CEL clear itself?
Thanks
I did the same mod on a 21 big horn.

I left the two middle slats but still got a CEL. The OP hasn’t been back here since February. There doesn’t seem to be anything restricting its movement.
Are you still CEL free...
Still in truck. Want to buy? Going to swap it out tomorrow hopefully, but am keeping it’s harness as the truck I got the bench from was a base big horn without 115v and rear usbs.
Hmm. So I got a CEL, something I was trying to avoid doing this differently.
The motor is free to turn the two slats.
Weird thing is I am unable to pull any codes using Alfaobd.
So it’s possible either the CEL is unrelated to my mod and Alfaobd has not caught up with the 2021s yet or the...
Ah yes, I remember those orange and black pita bugs lol. No worries about them in Ohio. I always put the screen in all of my new vehicle and ran them when I used to live in Florida.
I just hit the front of the grille with a focused garden hose stream once in a while. They fall off the mesh...
I just did this mod, but a little differently. I kept the ags frame and just removed all the slats except for the ones attached to the motor. I wanted to keep the rubber fairings in place around the back of it. I think it acts like a shroud keeping the incoming air to the radiator.
I had great...
Bigger filter is not for more flow. It’s for increased filter media size for better filtering capacity between oil changes. AFAIK the bypass and flow between the big and small filters are the same.
All seems normal except the brake pedal squeak. My old 2018 1500 used to make brake pedal noise but this one is silent so far. It was more like a creaking noise but after 90k miles it didn’t get worse or affect anything.
