    You are correct, there is a valve core replacement tool. No vacuum needed, and minimal refrigerant loss.

    I'll have to experiment a bit more, but it seems like mine starts to fog up once I get close to setpoint. Like the dampers are opening slightly. I wouldn't mind it doing some bi-level between the dash vents and foot vents, but certainly not happy with the defrost vent
