Yep that’s what it was. I removed the cover and it fit perfectly.
My last truck was basically a work truck with steel rims and I honestly never even realized that these mid level trim trucks just had chrome caps on them.

Interesting. FWIW both the roadside guy and the tire guy I brought it to couldn’t fit their 22mm sockets on it. They both needed 7/8” (which converts to 22.23mm.) That could very well be it.
