Ok that would be greatly appreciated. From everything I've read, I just know the service tech is wrong. He's telling me everything is working as designed. So they won't take a look at it under warranty. I just can't find any hard evidence that it is in fact a closed system. So if you find...
You sound certain, but the service tech at my dealership is telling me my 2020 Ram has an open air suspension system that regularly releases and pumps in outside air. He doesn't sound very certain though. Do you have a source for your info so I can show it to him?
I had the same sound twice while unhooking a trailer, and there was a distictive smell from the air released. At the time, I assumed the smell was nitrogen. I took it to the dealership and they said it's an open system with an air pump. It's normal for the system to release excess pressure...
Hi Bowdown,
So I received the new clips today and, unfortunately they are not the right fit. I was hopeful as I couldn't find anything else even remotely close. They would probably work if they were just a little bigger. I was however able to rig the broken clips to somewhat work. Although it...
Ok sweet! They probably switched because the metal ones break too easily. I'm surprised (and glad) yours didn't break. I'll definitely order them tonight. Thanks again
They do look close, but plastic and not exactly the same shape. That's the closest thing I've seen so far though. I guess for only $10, I'll give them a shot and let you know. Thanks again for your help.
Yeah that's what I was hoping at first, but the metal clips definitely broke. I couldn't believe it either! Please see the attached photos of the 2 pieces I recovered. One peice fell somewhere into the depths of the dashboard. I hope it's not a specialty clip that Ram makes just for this...
So I finally followed your advice and I like the way it turned out. Thank you for this quick fix. The only issue I ran into is, even though I was very careful, when I pulled up the hood 2 of the 3 metal clips along the front broke. It still looks good, I just know that it's not as secure as it...
Ok thanks for the advice. I'm going to wait for Chrysler to approve the dash swap and send it out before attempting the fix myself. You know, just in case I mess it up. I've overdone it with the heat gun on previous projects before.
Yeah me too. I understand that they have to order the whole dash to get that part. So please let us know if your dealer is willing to just replace the cluster hood when the dash gets in. If I was the tech facing a 12 hour dash removal and replacement or a 2 minute pop off/pop in repair, I know...
Did your dealer actually say they are willing to just replace the gauge cluster hood? I have the issue where the hood is popping up in the front and back. My dealer says they cannot just replace the hood. They have to replace the entire dash. I'm concerned like you about rattles and additional...
Yeah I was thinking about trying to ignore it, but it's right there staring at me every time I sit in the driver's seat! I can't do it. It's got to be fixed somehow. Thanks for your reply.
That's great to hear. I'm hoping the dealership will attempt this type of repair. You know, just in case things go wrong, they're liable. Thanks for your reply.
Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. Has anyone on here that had their dashboard replaced had any issues afterwards? I'm very much concerned that the replacement fit will not be the same. I'm also worried there will be random creaks, squeaks, and rattles after they replace it.
Jbsbama, did you end up getting this fixed? If so, did they replace the dash or were they just able to secure that area down? I have this same issue on the same side as you on my limited that I bought only 3 weeks ago.
