Got it back today. Wow major difference in sound. Still have a little sewing machine like noise on start and with some acceleration when cold but it disappears as it warms. No metal on metal type of tick.
Well contacting Ramcares was no help.....Thank you for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear this has been your experience. However, as this is outside basic warranty parameters, our team is limited to provide any cost assistance. Your dealer would be in the best position to determine that...
I here you about the issues. The 6.2 v8 in the Chevy has problems, the Tundra metal in engine issues (some still being reported in 2024 I believe), and on and on. They definitely don't make things like they used to. No response to this would be another blow to the gut that I would have a hard...
Well If I were to buy a new truck, I was considering another new Ram. If they don't even bother to respond back, I probably will be looking for a completely different brand of truck..
They took pics of the manifolds and took off the heat shields, its not the manifolds. Yes I wish it was the manifolds. This owner had literally bailed me out before when I arrived near closing time with a problem on a vehicle and had a technician stay after hours to get me and my wife and kids...
I sent a message to Ramcares on the website here today. I hope they at least help me with the repairs. I have a feeling that it won't matter, but it is worth a shot.
The ram dealerships here in the area are horrible. I have been to many of the ones in the area and ran into many problems. Had one damage my truck, they agreed to do the repairs. Then when the wife and I picked up the vehicle, the service manager got into are faces (massive dude) and bitched...
We might me driving this for at least the next couple of months. I do not feel comfortable driving this the way it was. I already told them to do the fix and do not feel like a should just limp along until I pull the trigger.
This is my first major repair outside warranty, but to start off the repairs like this is a joke to the tune of $4500. Was planning on a road trip in August about 2500 miles total but don't trust this thing (I trust the repair, but not the truck any longer). Not going to show up to a dealer...
Want to puke right now. I have very little faith left in this vehicle. If I bring it to a dealer like this they are going to screw me over big time (well they always do just a million times worse left unfixed). Wife said might as well start looking. This should not be happening at 37000 miles.
Update bleeding dollar dollar bills.... Saw surface wear on pushrods and lifters on 3 and 5. They owner and head tech has seen this before on those engines and advised me to get a whole new cylinder head for the left side instead of just fixing the rods and lifters. Don't have much choice but...
They completely took off the heat shield and examined the manifolds. No cracking of bolt, no cracks in the manifold, no leaks. Going into the valve covers today. Mine sounds much more like banging metal than yours....Not good.
Got a call from the shop and they said it it could be a failed lifter, injector or spring in #3 or #5 or both. I am having them look under the heat shield of the manifold to make sure there is no cracks present since they said bolts were tight and wanted them to do that before they start...
