Five miles is great. All I care about is not getting a ticket. And mine has done its job perfectly for 4 years. And to me, that's the only metric that matters.
Mine definitely picks up way more than half a mile from the source specially on ka band. But I think it's still being over thought. Anyway, not much more I can add to the discussion.
That's what I'm saying. I was paraphrasing the theory that most people go by. If you read my post, you would see that I've already proven real world versus theory.
Most stationary radar is mounted high on a police vehicle. So, in a normal car, you want to match the location. A truck is already taller, so in theory, you want it mounted lower to match the mounting on the police car. That's what all these recommended mounting locations go by. And most are...
Definitely way over thinking it. I throughly believe the reason for these recommendations are from the old days of radar detectors. Mine in the 80s was definitely better mounted higher for longer detection. But the newer ones are just better. In the end, mount it where it works for you. I've...
Absolutely not an issue. I've had mine there for 4 years. And it's done it's job flawlessly. And yes, this is the same in hilly areas and mountains. It's detected radar everytime there has been any and in plenty of time.
Is the fuel gauge incorrect? Or is it the calculated miles to empty? It's a little confusing by why you said. If the gauge is wrong, you probably need the dealer to look at. It's possible you didn't get a 33 gallon tank if it is only filling up to 20.5 gallons. It's happened in the past. But if...
Never been an issue. It detects all around just fine. It's plenty high enough since the truck already sits higher than most police vehicles. And you can remove adhesive residue without issue. But I get it. I'm working on a 3d printed mount to make it look a little better, but it's not a priority...
My radar sits on my dash using velcro. The power wire runs down behind the screen. You can only see a little bit of it. It's been that way for 4 years and has worked perfectly.
Yes, this is listed in the modification section on how to do it. You need hardware and programming.

No, I'm in the Midwest. I just do it for myself and my wife and then for anyone who sits in the back. I have some really nice compact ones that fit in there really well.
It's in the first post, you need the BCM. Where do you see that the white jumper cable replaces that? Also the camera for the digital rear view mirror is not the same as the other cameras in the tailgate or anywhere else.
