I'm a "self-proclaimed" audiophile. There is some degradation, but nothing too noticeable. Nothing that outweighs the benefits of going wireless (my personal opinion).
Whoah! I had no idea this thread would get so much traction. Thanks to everyone that was able to get a part number and step by step install instructions. I'll be getting one ASAP!
I decided against it as well. Just thought I would share in case any other members were interested. I think I'm going to leave the radio knobs stock for now. I like that the shifter "feels" different that the other knobs, so I can tell right away that I reached for the correct one just by touch.
I converted using Lasfits, and couldn’t be happier. They are very bright. Even have opposing teafic turn their brights on me on the local backroads at night, because they think I have my high beams on when I only have my low beams. Price is decent too.
It does work on the outlet. It also works if I use a USB charger from the cigarette lighter. The issue seems to be when I plug it in to the 4 USB ports (including the USBC) that transmit data. My wireless charging phone cradle works fine if plugged into the USB within the armrest.
Good point. I assumed that all of the USB ports, regardless of whether they were data or not, were pushing the same amount. Also worth noting that I tried using the usb-C ports up front but they were having the same issue as their usb counterparts. And I assumed that they were pushing more...
For a while I had my phone on a vent cradle and used CarPlay (via my charger and the front USB port). I was not a fan of the cord dangling in front of my uConnect screen and radio/HVAC controls. Then I found out about the Car2Play and I loved the idea of going wireless, so I bought it. It works...
