Not sure what climate you live in, but an EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is another great option. Has similar performance characteristics as AGM, faster recharge rate, built for start stop cycling, but does better under hood in a high heat environment where an AGM tends to suffer dry out...
Yeah that sounds like a straight exhaust leak. The scenario I have is when you start it up everything sounds fine, then once it idles down to normal levels you start hearing the knocking (see my vid in very first post). The knocking slowly gets softer as the truck warms up until it can’t be...
I’ve always used synthetic in the truck, changed every 5k. Some brands quieter than others. Would love to try 5w30 to see what impact it has on the “slop” this engine might have when cold. Was thinking I’d wait till I was out of warranty, but on the flip side it could answer some questions I’d...
Dealer replaced both my manifolds, no change in sound. Mine only makes this sound for a brief period during warm up and only at idle. Once warmed up can’t hear a hint of it. Does yours do it even warmed up?
Any body on this thread have feedback on how the Volant sounds with the Donaldson Powercore filter? Just curious since it seems to be more of a heavy duty filter than the high flow oiled filters (don’t want to use). Looking for a bit more sound without changing the exhaust.
Yeah this is the exact reason I haven’t taken mine back. I first noticed mine doing it at 32k miles, now has 68k and no change. I don’t think a failed lifter would last that long. You would also think if that were the case you would hear it at operating temp, but I still don’t..which makes it a...
Mine still does it to this day. Thinking about taking to the dealer soon to see if they can figure it out before I’m out of warranty. Same thing though..only happens at temp and only in first gear and at operating temp.
Curious if you tried 5w20 with the current Purolator oil filter your using? I found that the Mopar anti drain back valve is inferior to most and would cause ticking for 5 seconds or so until oil pressure builds. Change to a good quality oil filter with a silicone anti drain back valve and have...
Mine is making that noise too, took to the dealer.. they replaced the exhaust bolts on the passenger side since one had snapped. Still sounds the same. Noise is mostly on the driver side.. I would think they would’ve done that one too if they found issue.
I'm in the same position.. I just changed the oil over to Valvoline (lots of moly in their GF6 oils) and it's been significantly quieter so it'll be a lot harder for them to hear now. I don't think they're going to do a whole lot or tear into the engine to diag something that isn't throwing a...
Mine were not cracked though, just broken bolts and it still knocks during cold idle after those were fixed. My guess is Chrysler won’t approve the warranty work for the real problem (lifters) until a check engine light occurs.
