I have configured to start heated seat and wheel on remote start. Start from key fob doesn't do either. Is this a known problem?

In an empty parking lot with perpendicular striping, I press the parksense button, hit OK for perpendicular, and the display says searching (or whatever). I drive past multiple spaces but nothing is found. Is this supposed to work only when there is a vehicle beside an empty space?
