What is the benefit of going butyl tape vs. the marine weatherstrip others have used? I tried Permatex gasket rtv around third brake light but still have the leak. I’m hoping to try butyl or marine weatherstrip next 🤞

UPDATE: RF hub damaged/corroded from leak in rear window. Replacement under “good will” by dealership because “water damage” isn’t covered under warranty, despite the damage being from a faulty third brake light seal or cracked rear window frame. Either way, I’m happy the dealership helped me...
