    2021 1500 5.7 coolant temp went nuts

Things sure are different from back when you would panic if your coolant temp hit 220, but these newer engines seem to be designed to run a bit hotter, and I'm guessing it's only about EPA b.s. Our 2015 has some large temp swings, and it's got 200k miles on it, so I put a 180 thermostat in it...

BELT BLOWN AT 9K Miles-URGENT READ

Update. I can't remember her name in the service department, but she came through big time today. She acquired the belts and got the truck to me by 2pm! I guess I'll keep those belts I ordered in the truck along with the little tool to change the stretch belt. Still hopeful that it was a one...

    Ram 3.6 etorque 2019

Just guessing, but could there be an issue based on how cold it is there? I'd check for something liquid getting on the belt before you start it for the first time each day. I'd pop the hood and feel the belt or place a piece of white tissue against the surfaces of the serpentine belt and rub...

eTorque 5.7 2023 Ram 1500 water pump stretch belt

Wife's 2023 Ram 1500 with the eTorque 5.7 just broke the smaller of the two belts, specifically the stretch belt that run the water pump off the crankshaft. Less than 10k miles. Pulley looks to be straight and undamaged. Water pump spins freely. Coolant level was good. Basically no reason...

BELT BLOWN AT 9K Miles-URGENT READ

I found them at another source, but they must be OEM for warranty issues.

    eTorque @ local dealer

So, there is a nationwide backorder for the belts. How much do you want to bet that there is a serious problem afoot. Bad design, defective manufacturing of the belt... LOL. If not fixed fast, then I would bet there would absolutely be a judge involved, or at least a class created for a class...

Update... nationwide backorder for the belts for the 2023. Nothing like paying $1k a month for something undriveable

    eTorque @ local dealer

Oh its going to the dealer for sure, but only as I'm concerned that it tossed off a belt at around 10k miles, which is ridiculous. If it throws another belt in another 10k, then I'm going to see what a judge has to say about it and want the vehicle to have a history of being to the dealer for...

I'm just making sure that I wasn't missing anything. You assume too much.

    eTorque @ local dealer

What keeps tension on the water pump belt; how do you replace it as my wife's 2023 just through off the belt at about 10K miles. Is there a special tool or is it just really stretchy like a rubber band? Thanks in advance...

BELT BLOWN AT 9K Miles-URGENT READ

Yep, wifes 2023 just hit 10K miles and the belt fell off and took out part of the serpentine belt that goes to the eTorque motor. She was passing someone when it came off and the engine got up to over 260ºF, and then cooled down to 230ºF as it is cool out today. Had it towed to the dealer...

Just took the 2023 with the 5.7 Etorque to the dealer via tow truck. Belt failed for either the water pump or part of the serpentine belt came off and removed the little belt. Just about 10K miles on it.
