I wouldn't trust that quick link to hold, even though it is rated at the 3300 pounds. That would be a very weak point if those safety chains were ever needed. But you don't need that spring clip on the hook...a pair of pliers will take that spring clip out of your way easily, then just hook it up.

It's a trade we know we make when we make our choice. I have 3.92, and know I'm giving up some MPGs. But I do enough towing that I am willing to make that trade. That's why we have options as buyers...and it is a good thing.
