I have the same intermittent problem with my '19 1500 Classic. Doesn't happen all the time, and there's no way to know when it will. Sometimes takes 8 or 10 starts and stops to get a couple gallons in, then it's fine. They replaced the entire fuel tank on mine earlier this year. Still...
It's been my experience (with several manufacturers) that if you look at this stuff wrong it'll scratch. I absolutely don't understand why they all think this piano black is a good thing.

Small comfort I guess knowing it's not just me. My 1500 Classic (V6) blows 'cool' almost immediately after sitting outside all day in San Antonio... but it never gets cold, and is largely ineffective for the 30 minute afternoon ride.
