To me the SE is more sporty and low profile, the elite sticks up in middle at tailgate, so is mainly what look your after. I liked the SE look much better. I had oem plastic caps on my bed and had zero issues, never touched the paint.

Figured out left side the latch on bed is barely off and needs adjusted. Have to push on left side and opens every time
