I’ve got a bit of diff noise and I’m planning to rebuild it this winter in Feb. I’m likely being overzealous about the noise at this point but I travel far away in the truck and would rather spend the money now than have a sub par repair done on the road somewhere.
This truck was such a good...
On older Chrysler stuff sometimes they would lose calibration. Roll the window up and keep holding the switch up for 5-10 seconds. Or roll it up then let off then pull the switch up again for another 5-10 seconds.
This stuff is probably too advanced to still work but my 2010 used the same...
I’m right at 100k. Mines been great other than a few small things. Minor creak in the LH front suspension at low speed breaking (need to figure that out). Rusted exhaust bolt broken at cat to muffler flange. The air dam just failed so I wired it up and dis connected until I get it pulled out...
I purchased my 2021 Ram 1500 new in the fall of 21. I ran the factory fill until 50k and changed out to Amsoil Severe gear 75-90. This truck is a 3.21 and calls for that (the 3.92 gear calls for a 75-140).
Since around 50k its had a very light “howl” on light deceleration around 62 mph. Only...
You can do it cold but it takes longer/might not drain as fully. I have a 12 mile highway ride home after work so I just do that run home then drain em. Not hot but warm.
I paid up for the dealer fluid again. Exponential price increase over 2 years ago during the first flush. Might buy a 5 gallon pail as re bottle/sell on Amazon ha.
Back when I changed it the first time I couldn’t find anyone with any history of running an alternate fluid for any length of...
My truck was ordered without a LSD (sadly) so I required it to have 4 auto and it works great in everything except extremely icy conditions. I use it on boat ramps, light/medium snow especially if the road conditions go from covered to payment. Since it has no LSD it’s almost required when...
Seems like the sweet spot for reliability was around 21-22. My 21 has been flawless (very low option bighorn so not many frills to fail).
2019 was the first year for the DT body and should be avoided.
I use redline. Spring and fall tank in the boats and every 10k miles in the cars. I plan a treatment when I know I’m going to blast through an entire tank I.E. towing for more than 3 hours.
Have done that in all my 5.7s to well over 100k with 0 fuel system related problems.
I’m also by the...
Shifting issues are very unlikely from fluid issues unless the trans somehow ran extremely hot for a while. Most likely a valve body issue of sorts.
My co worker had something similar with his 2020 3.6 1500.
My 21 5.7 (non e torque) fluid was changed at 78k. I had parts and such but didn’t...
Running the PPE on my truck for 10k now without issue. The re location of the drain plug is fully worth the price of moving to the PPE for future services.
Sign me up on a new order if the automotive 6.4 is available in the 1/2 ton.
Though, I suspect they will only offer it in some insanely expensive trim level like normal. I could be talked into a low level Laramie to get it but that’s as far as I’d go. I prefer a quad cab 6.4 bed and the...
Yeah, no vehicle that the automotive 6.4 is offered in has an E torque system = obviously doesn’t exist. 5.7 exists in everything besides the truck sans E torque so one would guess for EPA reasons it would be a possibility they would add E torque to the 6.4 in a truck platform that’s already...
Hopefully they end up offering the automotive 6.4 without E torque. If that’s the case I could be swayed into another new 1/2 ton once the new canbus system is sorted. Otherwise, 3/4 ton it is.
I’m running 75-90 Amsoil severe gear in both diffs since 50k. (3.21 gears and almost 90k now).
My rear started making a very faint noise on very light deceleration around 62 mph around 50k before I changed fluid.
Now it’s a bit louder and has expended its range from about 60-65 pending how...
I’ve got about 10k miles on the fluid change and PPE swap. I didn’t use the spacers (figured it was there mostly to prevent cracking or distortion of the plastic pan). I used a Felpro gasket and it looked like the spacers wouldn’t allow the gasket to be compressed fully. No leaks and no other...
Mine looked nice and clean @ 78k. I tow often 4-5k lbs with heavy payloads. I’m sure it still would have looked decent at your mileage so I’d let it rip.
