I use 87 but at my elevation, 5,000+ ft, its not a problem. However if I am towing or on a trip I use 91. I use Costco almost exclusively so I am surprised to hear about a bad gas problem with them. I have never in the 20 years plus that I have been using Costco fuel have I come across bad...
Based on what your experience is I have come to conclusion that the TSB is the way to go as I have the same problem at stoplights with stop/start on. Thanks for the info!
Try what works for me. After inserting the nozzle twist it to the left so the tip of the nozzle is pointing to 3 o'clock and the handle you are holding is at 9 o'clock. You will most likely have to continue to hold it there as you fill up, but it is worth the extra effort to get a full tank...
Even if you aren't going to tow anything, the next owner might want to and having the TBC would be a plus. I do tow and had it added as my truck did not come with it. I think I paid $540 at the dealer for the part, installation and programming.
2 Pulled Hammys - That is excellent mileage and it proves to those that insist that they can only get 12 MPG, that it is possible. I don't have a 4x4 and I get about the same mileage as you do.
I agree with this line of thinking. While the changes you can do with this type of equipment may improve your truck, it is not worth the loss of your warranty. Most of us bought our RAM trucks for the features it has, not the features it doesn't have.
You may be right about the engine still running as it is very quiet and smooth, no idle jitter, and if you close the door and walk towards the front you would not hear the exhaust tones. So I might have been mistaken that the engine was off.
I have left my truck running, well not running when I left it as I have etorque start stop, and returned about 1/2 hours later it was running. It did not shutoff when I walked away with the key fob in my pocket. So if you have start stop the engine will shut off and you might think you turned...
Had my local Ram Dealer install a Trailer Brake Controller, total price including the controller, installation and programing was $530. I know I could have done it myself for a bit cheaper, but I really did not want to mess with taking out my 12" screen.
I hand calculate mine also and find that the difference between my MPG and what the on board MPG says varies from .2 to .5. With the on board being higher than my hand calculations. I am going to start waiting 30 seconds after the nozzle first shuts off and then pump until it shuts off again...
