Not weird if you are making caddys/organizers. I've been thinking about getting a 3D printer.
This is also useful to clean windows (mostly haze on the inside) and Windex is a lousy hand sanitizer. I refill the bottle with 91% IPA; About a dozen good shots at that strength will kill a wasp and...
One of those multitools with a knife blade, pliers, and other folding bits. A small spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol (as hand sanitizer).
Everything else goes somewhere else.
I'll also add in the question of eTorque. If you have this and want to also add a bunch of boombox bass capacity, a DC to DC system looks to be the best bet. There is no practical known way to hack into and modify the rest of the system, so that leaves adding an additional separate load. The...
An "@" is a "mention" and causes the mentioned member to get an alert. You should have an alert because I quoted you. In the next post, I will mention you.
Lifters, piston bores, and the oil pump are top sources of iron in the oil just off the top of my head. The best you may be able to do is provide proof of the tests and ask for an inspection in warranty. Odds are no failure will be detected, but at least it gets a record of a concern if a...
Tracking down a noise is always fun (not).
I usually grab some feet of rubber gas line, a stick, and some tape. tape one end of the hose to the stick, hold the other end in your ear. Cheap stethoscope. Watch out for spinning parts as you probe around for the noise source.
Add in those people who complain whoever installed a battery messed up the emissions system because it will not pass smog right after the new battery is installed. Most people today have no clue why this is normal.
Usually replacement in the first part of the warranty period and pro-rated for most of it. Is it a scam? Maybe in part, and the rest is marketing. Or just treat it as buying a service plan which includes a battery.
There are very few battery manufacturers left, all "competitor" batteries come...
I have some unrestricted acres in a very 2A friendly county, but would rather sell it than cut a road in.
I live in the next county which is friendly to personal use but not commercial so I can shoot off my back deck. Still try to limit it to basic testing and such out of a balance of respect...
I have not had a case of a "dead" car being able to restart after a jump without some additional driving to charge it, but these vehicles are electrically complicated. It may be that the battery was just over the edge to make this happen.
One big clue is the new battery cranks faster. This is...
I get mine from AutoZone*. They install for free (more like I just let them help).
Provide the VIN, they bring up a list of options. Ignore the fancy ones like Optima. Assuming at least three options, don't get the cheapest or the most expensive. I typically get a 3-year battery. I think wet...
Try rubbing alcohol and a clean microfiber (or two or three). Try this right after replacing your cabin air filter. And toss any air fresheners. Was the interior detailed recently?
Interior detailing chems (and even the plastics they are made of) will often off-gas leaving a stubborn film. You can try spraying some isopropyl alcohol on a microfiber towel to remove it. I have even had reasonable luck in a pinch with a dry microfiber towel; was driving into a sunset and it...
You would likely get pulled over here in east Tennessee. No red (or blue) can be visible at the front of a vehicle. No exterior blue lighting visible from any direction.
Any off-road lighting is to be covered on the road, have not seen enforcement of this around here as long as they are not on...
All good, I do like your writeup. A couple other handy tips...
With the car off, make sure the battery terminals are tight. Try to twist them. I have had more than one case over the last 40+ years where a loose terminal caused various problems including weak starts and headlights changing...
At your step 3, a fully charged lead-acid battery reads 12.6V. An AGM will be 12.7V. If the reading is 12.0V, the battery is a half charge or less.
This reading should be done after the vehicle has been sitting for several hours and preferably overnight, this is to dissipate "surface charge."...
I use AutoZone. Around my parts, good stock and they are everywhere. This makes it easy to get another after the first unexpected jumpstart. And free installation. I have them help me, would rather clean tighten at least the posts myself. Still nice to have them lift.
Provide the VIN, proper...
