There is a thread on this forum with fairly recent participation. As I recall there is a bypass cable you can install, just have to remove the radio and upper glove box if I recall. It is definitely on my list of future projects.

Mine had evidently tried to update when wife and I went out to dinner. Started the truck and saw a message that the update had failed. Definitely need to remove the ota ability, hopefully get that accomplished sometime this year.
