I'm at 96K with no trans service yet, I have the 7 year/unlimited mileage extended warranty so I'm not concerned with it; I plan on trading this truck just after the warranty is expired. My last truck went 275K on the original fluid and filter and ever skipped a beat
Generally, when the ground strap starts getting eaten back from the electrode, is when it's time to replace them. As long as the porcelain isn't cracked and the ground strap is intact, the plug is still good.
Strangely, on my previous truck (2003 hemi) I changed the plugs around 155K miles...
I use it as a truck weekly.
I had a 15' tall tree getting blown down last spring, chopped it up and loaded it into the truck and hauled to the dump, no harm to the bedrug.
I have a tarp that I can place on the bed on top of the bedrug if I were ever worried about damaging it but nothings ever...
Valve stem seals or the valve guides have excessive play. I vote valve stem seals, my 2003 5.7 did the same thing around 200K miles.
Pooled oil in the head is leaking past the valve stem seals. When the truck sits for long periods of time, the leaking oil pools in the cylinder and burns off when...
I disagree because this completely assumes the smaller engine was not designed with its power potential from the onset. There's hurricanes making 1000 fwhp using the same block but different crank and rods. The smaller engine with boost will act like a larger engine and typically outperform it...
Initial takeoff or the 1st 30 feet isn't what I'm talking about, the engine is lazy after the initial start and by lazy I mean requires more throttle than I think it should for mid range acceleration, 30-60,70 mph.
Full throttle, yeah, it'll move but it's requiring more throttle input because...
I don't mean to offend but those that think the HEMI drives well and has plenty of power have never owned or driven anything with nice low speed power matched to the vehicle.
The 5.7 was the best thing Ram had for a truck engine that still allowed them to meet EPA requirements, that's it.
Those...
I'm happy with the 5.7 as well given the current options when I bought BUT, it could be better with more low speed power. The low torque really hurts the performance of this engine in the truck; in the cars, it's probably doesn't drive the same but we are talking about a near 1-2000lb difference...
I've grown up around cars/performance cars my entire life up to today. 73 Charger that was 318 powered then later 360 then 440, 2.2 Turbo 2 Daytona, 96 Z28 and the current 2003 Z06. I've had 2 HEMI trucks and had no issues with either but I will be buying a Tungsten with the HO hurricane next...
I like the 10 year part but not he 100K miles part, thats 6 years of driving for me. I have a 7/unlimited extended currently. I've read that the unlimited mileage extended was a dealer warranty only honored at that dealer and that they required you to do all the mileage maintenance with the dealer
Yet you still have a light duty truck and the 5.9 (both gas and diesel) were in the 2500 which later went to the 6.7. Your fallacy is that you keep making the HD engin comparison in relation to a light duty 1500 truck. You have produced zero evidence to support your of an duty cycle issue with...
