After the TCM/PCM updates it seems that the issue is fixed. I purposely rode the pedal very lightly up a slight grade and instead of it hesitating/surging it downshifted like it was supposed too. I also notice I'm in 6th gear while cruising at 30 MPH instead of 8th (Always caused the surging...
There is a TCM & PCM update for the 2019/2020 Ram 1500 3.6L built before April 2020. My truck goes in Friday for the update.
Update: Dropped my truck off at the dealership and was informed that it may take a day or two. Luckily for me the service manager is a nice guy and got me into a free rental.
I've watched a ton of their videos, from my understanding their coil packs are more powerful and deliver a cleaner spark, thus burning unburnt fuel. The dyno graphs they show in real time seem legit. Coil pack upgrades have been around for quite awhile, even the HEMI's get a good 10+ HP from...
These trucks come with 3 inch exhaust piping, more than enough for our trucks. Also, if you look at your exhaust setup it's relatively straight (minus that god awful mess just after the headers). A highflow muffler is more than enough.
Mine is now repaired. When the factory performed an alignment after the truck was produced they forgot to lock something in the steering column, this was causing it to occasionally wander. Dealership fixed it after two visits.
Let me know if you discover anything after your dealer visit. Idk if this will help you but I bought a Hikeit Throttle Controller and the surging has decreased significantly.
MagnaFlow 12589 Exhaust Muffler
Thats the model, the thing is HUGE. It is a straight through design and from what I can tell it flows a hell of a lot better than my old chokemaster40.
As the title states, don't do it. I had a Super 40 on my truck and it sounded awesome but my MPG and power dropped like a rock. Had a 22 inch magnaflow installed and now my power and mpg are back (only downside is it sounds stock now, oh well). Just a heads up for you guys.
I placed an order for the AFE one and I'm curious as to why you liked it more? I noticed it utilizes the lower stock airbox and appears to have a larger oval filter. Was the K&N piping metal?
Update: My truck has been running extremely sluggishly so I removed the flowmaster super 40 and the super 10 resonator. I put the stock resonator back on and had a 22" straight through magnaflow installed. Truck runs WAY better now, It's hard to explain but I think I know why flowmaster is known...
Nothing right now. K&N and I are keeping in contact though, they want to use my truck (2020 3.6L) as a test mule for R&D. Problem is I'm active duty military and left California before they could reach me. I'll be moving back to California around April 2021 and will look into providing my Ram to...
Update:
Coil packs still working great! MPG has not changed at all, still sitting between 20.5 - 22 50/50 (Possibly because it's been regularly 40 degrees after my install); however what I have noticed is if the truck is stopped and idling (such as stuck in traffic) my real time mpg does not...
