It was out once in a heavy rain and only a slight "dribble" of water got in. I did not expect (or necessarily need) it to be "waterproof" so I was VERY happy w/ so little water that got in. All it needs is a bit of add'l weather-stripping or some silicone sealant to make it completely waterproof.

Not the best pix. BUT if you need add'l room, it takes just a couple of minutes to remove the 4 C-clamps & lift the cover out.

If you have the silver (aluminum) rails, you would not need anything additional for installing the Retrax 60244 or Retrax 80244. Not sure about other brands.

The Key Fob error hasn't been a problem w/ the newer Lasfit LEDs and Lasfit typically have been good about exchanging the older LEDs for the newer LEDs. And as noted, while more expensive, the LEDs by DD also work very well and are made in the USA!
