Ive been chasing the clunk an squeaks since installing my 5100s as well…when messing with the front i ugga duuga’d the upper strut nits and snapped a stud 🤦♂️ afyer replacing the upper mount ive just stopped fuggin with it all and have come to terms with the clubk happening when its wet...
The sites are being stupid…tour stock tire size in an LT tire will absolutely fit without issue. FWIW I just put on Bridgestone Dueler AT ascent tires and im pretty impressed with them.
I tried the sumos made for the ram and sent them back the day aftet the install. Those things could loosen a kidney stone with daily driving. Funny enough they were magic on my gladiator and are still good on my camper 🤷♂️
They feel great with daily driving. I regularly have an open top traditional style cup of coffee on my way into work and have no problem drinking from that cup while I drive. They are a little stiffer than the OEM springs, but they really should have come with these progressive rate spring stock...
Its slightly stiffer, but it didn’t make it bad or rough. The truck is smooth as butter with daily driving. I regularly have a regular “open top” cup of coffee when i leave for work and can drink it while I drive w/o worrying about spilling it. I truly believe any ram with a tow package should...
Ty! There is a notch on the upper isolator where the top of the spring sits. Its hard to see in the pics, i saw in a video that it was facing towards the rear of the truck, so thats where I stuck mine. Curious if yours are the same. This is a screen shot from a video where the fellas is pointing...
I’m neurotic about rust on the undercarriage of any of my vehicles. So before you go trouncing around in the snow or salty roads, I would get underneath of the truck and spray any rust you can find with a rust converter. And then go back to the next day and hit it with Black Spray paint.
Yea, with that mileage id replace them.
If you don’t mind… Could you take a picture of your rear spring upper isolators in their current stock position? I didn’t do this before replacing mine and I’ve always been a little curious what the actual OEM orientation is lol
Moparpartsonline is where I get most of my parts, otherwise rockauto. As far as isolators it depends on how many miles you have IMO. If you’re less than 20,000 miles then I would just reuse the stock isolators. But if you’re over, it couldn’t hurt to replace them since the cost is really minimal...
Fwiw
Firestone is running a 15% off the cost of tires and their install right now. Put me in the position to pull the trigger on some new Bridgestone Dueler AT ascents in E rating. They’re a meaty looking tires but quiet on the road so far.
As far as upgrades to handling and towing.
Hellwig rear sway bar
Billstein 5100 shocks
Cargomaxx 351-893 HD or XHD progressive rear springs
Timber Grove air bag suspension upgrade
E rated “10 ply” tires
A HIGH QUALITY wdh is worth the $$
Id avoid the hefty bump stop upgrades. I read they...
You have to take them back off and reset it. I originally had my 5100s set to stock ride height and then went up to the third clip. It’s really not a difficult Install as long as you don’t over tighten the top of the strut.🤦♂️
I was wanting E rated tires for the truck and ended up pulling the trigger on a good sale from firestone. 15% new tires and the install.
I loved the Bridgestone dueler AT tires I had on my jeep so I went with the new set of those.
Bridgestone Dueler AT Ascent 275/65/18
They are definitely a...
I cant remember what my stock ride height was but the rear sits around 39.5”. It looked silly with a stock front. After raising the front 7/8” with the 5100s it looks far more balanced now. If i remember ill snap a pic tomorrow in the daylight so you can see the stance. I sorta wanted to be let...
The 893HD and XHD springs have both both felt great with daily driving. I also felt the oem springs were a little too soft. The dual rate cargomax springs sured up the ride a LOT. But dont have that HD rattle your teeth feel. I regularly have an open top mug of coffee in the morning and can...
I currently have 351-893XHD springs in and they’re pretty dang nice, though i have another set I may try at some point…im a glutton for trial and error. The rear sat at 39” with the 893HDs. when first hooking up the camper with a WDH the rear was 1 1/4” to 1 1/2” higher than the front(rake)...
