As someone who has done leveling kits both ways, I 100% disagree with this advice. The Bilstein 5100s ride like s*** and it's pretty hard to guess how much actual lift you're going to get. Plus they are much harder to install so most guys end up paying to get them installed. Conversely, a...
I think that in a *towing* situation the benefit of Tow/Haul mode is that it adds hydraulic line pressure, which in turn reduces wear inside the transmission. Sure, it also uses engine braking more aggressively and it tries to avoid 8th gear to protect the transmission, but the main benefit is...
Dodge/Ram really got my attention with their "The New Dodge" campaign back in the early 1990s. In my opinion, the '94 truck is what saved the company. Things only got better from there, as sales of the new truck brought money into the company to improve other products. By '98 my father...
If I were going to buy a new truck today, it would be a Ford F-350 Supercrew 4x4 XL. I'd add the XL Off Road package, roof clearance lights, spray in bedliner, step rails, and maybe the Pro Power Onboard package. Would come out around $56k sticker and would be MUCH more capable as a truck and...
Wow. Biggest change of this entire thread. That truck looked like a lowered street truck before, and looks like it's not even the same truck after. Crazy what a difference. It's a travesty how low these trucks sit to the ground from the factory and how short the little OE tires are. I...
My current truck proves a point that I want to make about this thread, which is that the "take rate" can be confusing. Just because somebody buys something, that doesn't necessarily mean it's what they truly wanted.
My truck has 3.21 open diff. I would MUCH rather have 3.92 limited slip...
I'm sorry that happened to you. That really sucks.
Whether or not the extender is to blame would be debatable since the anchor point of the receptacle is not changing. The only thing that changes is a couple inches of the webbing is replaced by solid material. That should make no difference...
Ram Cares sucks. They ask a question, get an answer, then ghost us for months, then when they show back up they list all the reasons they added the stupid feature to begin with. WE DON'T CARE. We never asked for the feature and we don't want it. Allow us to choose!
Shocking that we made it over 20 posts in before somebody typed that. Usually it's the second or third post anytime someone asks for legitimate help with this issue.
As far as shutting off the chime, I use a strapless seatbelt extender from Amazon. Note that you can buy with with extension...
Fumoto F106N for the win. No need for additional moving parts that could leak or fail over time. Buy the optional tube, drain directly into the pan, done in no time. The sway bar is not in the way and is not a problem.
If I ever meet the guy who picked the oil filter location I'm going to...
And THIS is exactly what people need to be writing Stellantis and telling them.
Ford and GM offer choice. Ram/Dodge/Jeep going forward won't. That's going to be a problem.
If you start looking back farther, 5W30 was in the manuals in the past. Then 5W20, then 0W20....with NO changes to the engine whatsoever, only changes to environmental law. Hmmm.....
So there's what works best for the consumer (5W30/5W40) and then there's what works best for the automaker...
Had the axle fluid ever been changed with 58k on the clock? I always pull the inspection cover and clean the metal off the magnet at around 15k and you'd be surprised how dirty the fluid already is. It's twice as bad on the Jeep pickups, something about the new Dana AdvanTek axles likes to...
I do. I don't think it's necessary at 1,000 miles. But I certainly DO NOT go 10,000 miles ever, especially for the very first one. Usually I dump the factory fill water oil at around 4,000ish and refill with quality oil of an appropriate viscosity for a V8 that works hard in a 5,600 lb...
I can't remember which brand my buddy bought, but the quality was horrible. First set arrived damaged. Second set arrived damaged. And the material used is thicker than OE so they're a real PITA to install.
I ended up just buying the OE liners for the rear. Got an excellent deal on them...
Laugh if you want. Don't really care. I won't be paying for your lifter/cam issues.
I find it amusing that the engine hasn't changed AT ALL since 2009, but the oil spec has been changed at least three times if not four in the owners manuals over the years, and guys will still believe that the...
People switched TO the 0W20 water oil and the valvetrain got quiet? No, that's got to be backward. It's the exact opposite. The thicker viscosity "sticks" to the cam lobes and valvetrain much better and heavily reduces wear. I for one will never go back.
There are countless threads...
Didn't they remove the center muffler a few years ago? My truck only had the large muffler at the rear axle and then two small resonators. I was told that a few years ago there was a 4th muffler located upstream, just after the catalytic converters, sort of directly under the front passenger seat.
I disagree.
On a cold start with the sensor behind the radiator you get perfect readings immediately, which means your climate system knows what to do immediately. Very few people sit in an idling vehicle for an hour. So the sensor is accurate more of the time in this location. No affect...
