I drove a '24 and the transmission was just as silky smooth as ZF transmissions have always been in these trucks. And, nobody was complaining about the trans. So what changed for '25? Why would they alter the TCM programming between model years? That doesn't make sense.
A more plausible...
Exactly what I'm thinking. Same interior, essentially. Still get 4-corner coil springs. But that sweet 6.4L Hemi is there without eSuck added to it, and it actually has a usable payload rating.
What I saw is that Monday, August 18th is the day the 5.7L trucks are scheduled to begin production.
I want one, but I do not want one now. It's been quite a while since the lines built 5.7L trucks and they will need time to get the bugs out.
I did some experimenting with my 5.7L non-eTorque. I would run through an entire tank with MDS off all the time, then run through a tank with MDS on, then another tank with MDS off, then a tank with MDS on.... so on and so forth. Hand calculating each tank and filling up at the same gas pump...
Before the prior administration directly caused prices on EVERYTHING to double I was talking to a technician at my dealership and he said the eTorque MGU was a $1,400 item and they "commonly fail just out of warranty". I shudder to think what that generator unit costs today...are they $2,500...
15 MPG from my '22 non-eTorque 5.7 with 3.21 gears.
Traded it for a '19 F-250 CC 4x4 that has 450 HP and is getting 18 MPG with 3.31 gears. But that's diesel for ya'....
I honestly may go back to a 5.7L Ram IF the deals are good next year just because I like the 5th Gen Rams so much.
If you don't change the filter, that's like putting fresh clothes on over top of dirty underwear. Why would anybody do that?
Protip: Buy the Dorman brand pan. It is the same price of the Mopar OE pan, but it has a replaceable filter element inside AND it has a drain plug on the pan. Much...
What is the GAWR (gross axle weight rating) and Payload rating on the door jamb sticker of that truck? If you don't mind snapping a picture that would be great. Trying to see if the newer 1500s have enough capacity for what I need.
Well, they aren't. They had so many mediocre reviews on their own website that they totally revamped the site and all those 2 and 3 star reviews magically vanished. The products they've launched in recent years have been trash. The Ridge Grappler has the most foul weather traction complaints...
Some guys just don't get it. The Hurricane makes BIG power from only 3 liters. How? By stuffing BIG air into the cylinders. This excessive pressure WILL wear the engine out faster than a larger engine that doesn't have to work as hard. It's not up for debate. The laws of physics don't take...
The 3.6 in the Ram application is already maxed out at 305 HP with an excellent air intake system and large exhaust. You're not going to get anything more from it with a K&N except a LOT more contaminate into your engine thereby decreasing its service life.
If they wanted to really play ball, they'd put the 6.4L in the 1500 to compete with GM again. At one point Ram had passed the Chevrolet brand. Won't happen again unless they go 6.4L and do a refresh on the aging DT platform.
Well well well... what do we have here? I've been saying for years that 20-weight oils are too thin for V8 engines, especially in trucks where they see loads and stress. This is why Hemi engines have issues most of the time; they are fed insufficient oil viscosity. Then today the news...
What always upset us was that there was constant Amsoil advertising. It got to be obnoxious. If a guy is going to use a non-MS 12991 oil, why not just pick a less expensive one off the shelf? I did a lot of testing with Quaker State 5W40 and it looked really good in analysis after towing at...
Well, TK's Garage on YouTube has had a stellar track record on this news over the last 6 months. And he's been saying for a while that the Hemi is back for Ram 1500, Hellcat engine stays in Durango for a while longer, and they're measuring/testing the new 2025 Charger to see if a Hemi will...
Was waiting for somebody to bring this up.
I guess the 3.0 Hurricane is great until it's in the shop for 2 days getting a water pump, or 2 months getting a new wire harness, or any of the other issues we're seeing on that Euro engineered dog pile. Just wait until those things are out of...
