Ford's EcoBoost 3.5L runs on regular and that owner's manual basically says the same as our manual regarding 91 octane. Mine runs great on 87. I had a buddy years ago who ran his Audi A4 on regular despite it "requiring" premium. No issues.
For what's worth I joined an Audi forum in 2011 when I was looking to buy my S4 (which is GDI). I still own it too. One of the major issues in 2010 and 2011 S4s was plastic water pump housings failing. A recall was issued and they went back to metal pumps. I say this to echo the previous post...
I'm changing mine at around 1000 miles. It can only be a good thing to get fresh oil/filter in/on there and I enjoy doing it. Plus, my kids are at the age where I can teach them how to do it. I will run 0W-20 AMSOIL Signature Series on it and then I'll follow the oil life indicator. I don't put...
I would think that the specific conditions matter. Wind, temperature, etc. It should do better than 15MPG unladen in favorable conditions. I have a Rebel and it got nearly 18 MPG at 80MPH. Just me in the truck with a small suitcase and backpack.
I picked up mine on 24 October. It's an August 2024 build date. I had them flash it prior to my picking it up...somebody posted the TSB in this forum regarding CELs for misfires and I sent them that.
I drove mine off the lot and went straight highway at 80 mph. I averaged 17.88. At 70 MPH I imagine I'll get 18+. 10-13 is atrocious. Something must be wrong.
There's a MotorTrend article from 2022 or 2023 that I wanted to paraphrase regarding the SO Hurricane. Bottom line: It stated that the advertised power numbers were generated on 89 Octane (Mid-grade) fuel. Their (RAM) website recommends 87 for SO while the owners manual page is above a few...
I'm at 820 miles. To me the cold start high idle isn't concerning. It's consistent. Not unlike cold starting my 1970 Chevy C10. What isn't consistent is high idle after warmup. At long stop lights I normally shift into park. I've done so a few times on this truck and idle will rise to 1200 or...
I picked up mine on 24 October. I sent my salesman the TSB listed on this thread and they updated my truck prior to my getting there. Mine high idles on cold start and also high idles at other times too. For example, drove it today, full water/oil temp, stopped at Mcallister's Deli for lunch...
Personally, I'm going to run 87 most of the time. When I tow my boat next June, I'll switch to premium to achieve optimal performance, as suggested in the owner's manual. Would be nice if TFL or someone did a few 1/4 mile runs with two trucks...one with 87 and one with 91-93. My guess is there...
Mine runs 22-32 PSI depending on engine RPM. I think my Dad's Pentastar in his mini-van runs 30 PSI no matter the RPM. Totally normal for these engines.
Well, I was doing 80 MPH on a 500-mile trip today and was wishing my truck had the 33-gallon tank. The truck indicator said 18.3, I think. I'll update you when I fill up. It's not terrible considering 33-inch tires, 3.92 Gears, and east Tennessee hills. If I wanted great mileage, I'd drive 63...
I drove in my buddy's 2021 5.7 E-Torque a few weeks ago. Very nice, but not quick. But yesterday, I picked up my 2025 Rebel in TN. Put 500 miles on it today driving it home (I also checked on the house we are building in TN which is why I purchased from the local dealer). Tonight I drove the...
I paid about $61,800 yesteray in TN for the same truck minutes the side steps. Seems about right. They also gave me just under $34k for my 2016 RAM 2500. So I did ok considering the idiotic prices of these things.
