You make it sound trivial, but "reaches into the ... bin" is probably an excessive under-statement of the situation. On the assembly line, it's probably entire axle assemblies that have to be stored on fairly large racks. And with 2WD and 4WD, that means two sets of extra racks. And bigger...

Cooler air or less filter restriction can allow the engine to pass more air, and thereby make more power, but it's a small amount and only at or near wide open throttle. Most of the time you will be deliberately restricting airflow with a big ol' throttle plate anyway, and they will make zero...

I can see how lack of traction plus lack of torque might lead to feelings of insecurity... 😟
