    Lug-nuts

I was on another forum and the issue if 2 piece lug-nuts came up. Polished aluminum caps over mild steel. After a period of time, corrosion sets in due to dissimilar metals and the aluminum swells to the point where a standard lug-wrench won't work. I'm trying to find out if the RAM's are...

    Engine Troubles-rough idle

Can't help with the issue, but you said the dealership stated the "codes just went away". That can't happen unless they are deliberately deleted. I'd be looking for another dealer pronto.

Why so much hate for MDS and auto stop/start?

Gear limiter does not disable S/S. There is a separate switch just below the 4x4 selectors. Aditionally, you need to hit the - gear limiter thd then hit the + until it's in 8th. Frankly I find this a PITA. I know there are several products out there that automatically cancel the S/S but I can't...

    Tuners for the hemi

Regarding the Pulsar, since it's a piggy-back mount, can I safely assume that if I need to take the truck to the dealer, I can temporary remove it so it will not show up on any ECU's? I know programmers will leave a trace on the ECU and void your warranty.

    Tuners for the hemi

I found the Pedal Commander to be just about worthless; all it does is vary the degree the throttle plate moves in relation to the gas pedal. I tried one on my last truck (GMC Canyon V6) and sold it soon after. Went with a tune from Trifecta. It altered the timing, trans shift points, etc. on...

    Towing to Alaska - 5.7, 3.21

We went to Branson, Mo last November but decided to rent a condo instead of pulling the trailer. We were able to do the drive in one day and the increased gas mileage more than made up for the difference between the price for the condo and any of the trailer parks.

    Towing to Alaska - 5.7, 3.21

I get around 10.5, but I live in SE Texas where the only hills are the overpasses on I-10. I run 65 also, but there is an area where the limit is 75 so I bump it up a bit to avoid being a moving chicane.

    Towing to Alaska - 5.7, 3.21

2021 Lonestar with the 5.7 Etorque and 3.21 gearing. I tow (among other things) a Jayco Jayfeather 24RL. When loaded and ready t go, it is at about 6,400 lbs. No issues with trailiering but I have the 33 gallon than and a weight distributing hitch.

    Boat trailer locking up

7 pin or 4 pin trailer wiring? If 7 pin I would think a controller would be necessary.

    E85

I'm fortunate enough to have 2 stations within 10 miles of home/work that sell non-ethanol 91 octane. It's priced between the 89 and 93 octanes we get here in Texas. I run both my vehicles on it as well as stored fuel for generator, riding mower, etc.

    Rear wheel house liners

2021 Longhorn no flares. Is it necessary to still use the small liners at the front of the wheel well? it seems as though the Rough Country ones will cover the area.

    Radar Detector Hard-wire Install

Talked with securityguy last week. He was very helpful. What I did was to remove the panel and tap into the wires for the existing 12 volt socket. Then moved the fuse to switched power as he described above. east-peasy. Took all of 15 minutes.

So you want to tow a camper! Discussion thread.

Question regarding towing capacity....3.31 - 3.92 axle = 18% difference. 8,100 - 11,720 tow limit = 45% difference. The tow package, according to the build app does not include an additional oil or transmission cooler. Does not compute in my mind unless I missed something. I had a GMC Canyon...

    Does Anyone Use Conventional Oil?

Don't know and don't care...all I know from first hand knowledge is my method has worked just fine on the 2 dozen of so vehicles I have bought over the last 52 years. I have gotten over 250k out of a 1990 Ford Ranger with the POS 2.9 V6 and 300k from a 2002 Toyota Sequoia used to tow SeaDoos. No...

    Does Anyone Use Conventional Oil?

FWIW, I did my 1st oil change at 250 miles with Castrol 5-20 dino, changed back to Mobil1 5-30 syn at 2,500 and will change again at 5,000 and every 5,000 thereafter. My reasoning for this is to allow a proper break-in which really cannot be achieved with syn as it is actually too slippery. I'm...

    Radar Detector Hard-wire Install

I'm currently running my Valentine 1 from the lighter plug in the center Top of the dash. It looks bad with all the wires exposed. Also, the plug is unswitched so I have to turn it on and off manually. I believe I can remove the panel with the instructions provided in the "installing a factory...

    Navigation Question

New owner here, I searched but could not find anything relating to this: I would prefer the navi unit to show anywhere from 1-5 miles ahead of me when traveling on interstates. I am able to pinch the screen to get to that resolution but it returns to it's smaller display in less than a minute...

    12.0 GPS Navigation Location Wrong

Just picked up my 21 Longhorn 2 weeks ago. Navigation was working perfectly until last Saturday. It went stupid and was showing location about 1/4 mile from actual. SiruisXM also would not work. I stopped for gas and everything was working again when I restarted. Hope it was just a brain fart...
