I considered doing this. I have Line-x, recently had a buddy wanted a bunch of stuff moved. Including a bunch of large creek stones. I held my nose and did it.
The damn Line-x is great stuff no damage to the coating. It also seemed to grip so nothing slid around either.
Just drive it... Only thing to avoid would be keeping the same speed/load for a long time. You need to load the piston rings up to get them seated properly. Especially in the first few miles.
Babying it won't seat them as well.
Slop was my thought also. I've seen lots of Chevy's do this as well as Pontiac Firebird's I've owned all RWD. I always figred it was slop in the rear end gears. Seem to happen most when coasting then applying power. Gears will go from loaded in one direction to suddenly loaded in the...
If it's the downstream O2's you might try O2 spacers. This works with cat below spec codes.
If it's the upstream, your going to need a tune. LTH's move the location of the O2 farther down which must be compensated for in the tune.(on GM LSx engines anyway)
Just found this thread. Mine dose this. Usually only if it's been sitting a while/cold start. But to me is sound more like something hitting a plastic box. I figure if I take it in they won't be able to replicate it. It don't do it all the time.
Could be piston slap. Nothing to worry about if it goes away quickly. Piston shrinks when cold so there's a bit of slop till it heats up.
Many HO engines do this including my LS2.
I had the Alpine and hated the sound. I replaced all the speakers except the sub with Infinity Reference 3 Ohm. Sounds great now!
Sub is still stock as there doesn't appear to be a 1:1 replacement for it.
OP got lucky. I destroyed the original filter trying to get it off. I finally had to drive a screwdriver through it to get it to turn. They must have gorillas installing them at the factory.
