While on the topic. I’ve found that there are 2 toes of dealers: those that pinch every penny to make more money now and those that realize customer service businesses require capital investments sometimes and you make a customer for life who will bring you more business by referral.

I know on Ford, all updates came through Sync regardless whether head unit, PCM, BCM etc.
I suspect it’s similar.
FWIW, it’s never said I have an update either.
You can check the Uconnect site to see if there’s an update available for your VIN. If there is, you can download to a USB and manually update 🤷🏻♂️

What I find interesting is that the tech said USB-C outlets aren’t bidirectional and thought that was OK to give back to you.
That’s the entire initial purpose of USB-C, not worrying what direction you plug your cord in…
