Dealer cleaned the spot before I picked it up and told me it was just residue. It was squeaky clean when I picked it up, I crawled under it and looked. Now... this a few days later. I believe this to be a rear main seal leak. Case reopened with FCA, emails off to dealer mgt and we're back to the...
“Could not replicate?” I’m basically done with my service dept until we have a FCA provided fix or if @warvet ’s dealership figures it out first I’ll be driving over an hour to their service dept. Then we will all celebrate our clunk free trucks over a beer. I can envision it now...
It’s great to see you here. We too suspect some combination of sway bar/links or ball joints. Thanks for keeping us posted, there are more and more of us experiencing the issue.
Don't want to start any witch hunts as what I'm about to say is hearsay at this point. Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, but:
We have received some intel that FCA is aware of this and is currently working on a fix. They are freezing all cases opened with those having the clunking...
Yours would be an excellent candidate for someone at FCA to look at. I'm betting mine will get worse as time goes on. Dealership is saying they can't hear it now. It is much harder to replicate after they messed with it. I almost wish they hadn't done anything to it because it's hard to identify...
It was going back in for the clunking, and during my self-exploratory troubleshooting I discovered oil beading up around the rear main which is terrible. I also have the uneven gauge cluster lighting which is said to be a problem. Also have some tech issues but I’m not that worried about those...
I’m still working on it. Truck is in the shop now. Sang Kumbaya this AM with the shop foreman, service manager, sales manager, and service advisor in a meeting about all the issues with my truck. They are in communication with FCA now on fixes for the issues if they are feasible or if a buyback...
I was just reiterating what I was told. I also don’t believe what I was told is silly at all. It’s completely plausible. It’s easy to say all of that when you don’t have one of these trucks yet. When you have a $65k vehicle with multiple mechanical issues that began around 700 miles and new...
More likely to happen over uneven pavement or when the front end is flexing in a low speed turn. Rack and pinion replacement and tightening damn near every bolt in the front end has been no help.
