Okay, so in order for the Maps to be updated they require a firmware update, but they are not requiring a firmware update under normal circumstances (in its current state)
Looks like more confusion or misinformation from them, it says right on the page:
"The Software Update must be installed...
LOL, reading through the thread and It certainly sounds familiar....
This guy hit it right on the head:

"Unfortunately, there seems to be a bit of hot potato...
This is just another failed feature from Uconnect, the weather included with Travel link also never worked (Maps never refresh properly, etc...) but they will beg you to renew the service with emails weekly... When I contacted SXM, they basically told me its an issue with the radio.
>Please see...
And to add to this, I realized that there are always those who never have a single issue with their radios but I do question how that's possible. Do they actually use everything on it? Are they full of it or don't even realize the issues? Do they have some magic combination of things?
My radio...
I have been dealing with Uconnect on and off for several months via Twitter & email back and forth regarding issues with the UC4 and I can confirm that they are useless and do not have their **** together. Most of my posts about this system are negative because that is the experience I have had...
I realize that may have applied to older radios however, the 12" Uconnect is not the same type of unit as a seven year old Honda. I believe they are more reliant on each other now than most people think. I guess we'll see....
From a recent Digital Trends article regarding Android Auto:
"Even...
Just something else to add, I wonder what's going to happen when eventually (and it will) the radios become out of sync with the updates within Android/Android auto, etc... Anyone who pays attention to this will know that just about every week updates are pushed to our phones for all those apps...
Certainly looks like they overhauled it a bit. Hopefully they support it, push updates and fix whatever bugs it currently has and don't blatantly forget about it like they did with us trashy UC4 people... ;)
Yeah, someone posted this a few weeks ago.

And of course they state on the webpage its for the 12" only yet the manual they...
So there is the proof that these services are a complete mess and no one really knows what's what...
I currently pay for the ATT wifi, SXM Platinum (trial), 5-Year Trial SiriusXM Traffic Plus, 5-Year Trial – SiriusXM Travel Link and the search option within the Nav is grayed out... I don't...
Wow, that sounds like way overkill... If multiple people have the same issue its probably software related or a setting being missed... These dealers are hilarious, "F-it, just change all the parts out..."
Its hard to get a definitive answer on this (or something in writing, etc.) but it does seem that SXM guardian service is for whatever reason linked to the online navigation search. When I got my truck, the online searched worked, SXM Guardian was still linked to previous owner so I had to have...
Mine worked less than half the time (remote start) when I tried it, I would always get some error from the phone app, the vehicle location never functioned correctly either. I would be at work and the trucks location would still show it at home... And no, never in a parking garage or somewhere...
I can absolutely see charging for a map update maybe 3/4 years later but because of the known issues with this radio and the fact that is was shipped with a very outdated map to begin with they should have just offered it as a free complimentary update.
So has anyone had any success installing this Navigation update? Starting this thread to kind of keep track and see how it goes.
I assume most will pass because they are making us pay for it ($149) and I believe mostly everyone uses Waze/google maps which is better, more reliable and FREE...+...
I honestly can not believe these pieces of **** are actually charging for this update, what an absolute slap in the face to customers...
Sell it with outdated software and charge for the current is basically what this is. For all the troubles with this radio they should have made this available...
Its not really a matter of wanting them, they are needed. They're not supposed to break things but improve them and keep compatibility up with things like Android auto, SiriusXM, etc...
I wish people would realize how important updates are for these radios. I can guarantee there will be issues down the road if they completely stop supporting/updating them... And the fact the Uconnect is silent about the subject is more troubling.
