I doubt that's a problem with the running boards. It looks like someone did something really stupid to break all 4 brackets in the same spot, like using them as tie-down points to secure the truck to a car hauler.
Great suggestions above. If you're going to try to dry it out with rice, though, I'd soak it in distilled water first, to try to get most of the salt out, then get the water out. But if you can find electronics cleaner or rubbing alcohol, I'd do that instead.
Agree with the above. Make a tinfoil "ramp" to funnel the oil from the drain plug over the swaybar the first time, then install the Fumoto for next time. I also used a 1-gallon ziploc for the oil filter, and didn't spill a drop. I looked into filter relocation kits for the same reason, but...
I'll bet you could just clock it so that the clutch lever is accessible from underneath. You'd have no trouble reaching up under to turn it while it's sitting in the driveway, but maybe not when you're in mud up to the hubs and actually need the winch. I'd rather just relocate, since they make...
Well that makes a little more sense, if they were trying for the S-Class look. Still, they missed, and it was unnecessary anyway. The plain black open-pore wood in my Grand Cherokee Summit is gorgeous--it didn't need stripes.
And don't even get me started on fake carbon fiber...;)
I did the same comparison when I was buying. It really came down to interiors, and which of the nonsensical styling choices I could live with. The limited has a great (if understated) interior, but I have no idea what they were thinking with the pinstriped wood. What is that all about? Is it...
These are your choices if you want to use the Vice relocation kit:
There's Warn winch (Zeon Platinum) that includes clutch operation via the remote, so there's no lever to relocate. It's almost 4x the price of the Smittybilt, though, and Warn's quality now isn't the quality that built their...
Here's what I did with the Smittybilt on my Grand Cherokee. I added a remote-mount control box under the hood with a keyed "master on" switch (so I don't have to worry about some service tech or valet trying to cave in my bumper), a separate switch to enable the winch's wireless receiver, a...
Smittybilt X2O Comp 12k for me. I have the 10K version on my Grand Cherokee. Haven't used it a lot, but I've had no issues with it. I did take it apart as soon as I got it, clean out their crappy grease, and put in Aeroshell 33MS. I also smothered all the external electrical connections with...
I didn't--that was just the closest picture I found to match the Range Rover I owned. It was a '93 County LWB, and I loved it right up until it got totalled by a drunk driver running a red light. I've never been to the UK, but we've got a Scotland trip planned for next year!
Well, mine came with the logo. I don't know if that's a late-production change, or maybe just a supply issue where they had to use "retail" instead of "oem" versions of the tire.
I've mentioned before that my original plan was to install BFG KO2s right away, but I'm really happy with the...
You don't have to justify anything to me, but if you're willing to explain, I'm willing to learn. I didn't usually wear a seatbelt when I was younger, but my reasons were stupid ones. I'm curious about other people's non-stupid reasons.
