Good that RamCares is involved - if you search a bit you'll come across two possibilities - runoff from the 3rd brake light (CHMSL) or a poor pinch weld in the wheel well. They seem to be the most common issues which cause water in the footwell
I can't say I've seen anyone post up having a foreign object puncture, but it's possible. When I built my own air-ride on a different vehicle, I had an aluminum shard bounce just right and slash a sleeve bag in the rear...and that car was made to lay frame... so it was no bueno.
On these...
Lots of good advice here and viewpoints - one thing I didn't know until I bought the truck was that 'Off Road' Mode is limited to 27mph after which the truck will lower. It's only an inch or so, but will be annoying unless you end up with a lift.
Also do research on this forum of issues with...
Coming from someone with air suspension (and have built my own in the past) - I wouldn't trust my ability to get in/out of the wilderness on air.
It's a nice feature, good for towing / ride, adjustable height when needed. but if you're using it in extreme environments, I'd stick to coils (more...
So this was my story back when I first got my Rebel; 3.92 gearing / eTorque (cannot be turned off) and an old transmission firmware was causing a poor upshift 0-1-2 gears.
Dealer did a reflash and after a week of relearning my throttle input (very different from all my other vehicles) my...
Here's my take on air suspension & towing - much of it has to do with weight on the tongue & driving conditions.
When I'm towing my Ski Boat (~350# tongue) 20 minutes over to the lake on city streets, I'm not going through the jack-mode hassle. However, if loading up a heavier trailer and...
Appreciate the post Madddog - I think I'm ultimately going that way now. While I'd love to build something with that jockey wheel, the unknown motor/gearing origin for service is iffy and the market for other options is so limited.
I the refurb Trailer Valet XL is the next best option and will...
Tandem axle or single? That's another PITA plus it's a surge brake tongue so it feels like it 'sticks' some (def time to service it)
Mine being a tandem is such a pain since I have a very minor jog to navigate, almost too tight.
Has anyone used a TrailerValet?
I saw a TrailerValet XL on...
I'm definitely looking at something like that; I'm only using this for about a 30-40' push to the back of the tandem in a flat garage but may also use it on my textured concrete side drive... so urethane wheels might be annoying.
I might look for solid rubber wheels if they don't flat spot...
Tossing this idea out there, hoping y'all can poke holes in the idea build before I get too far... Or what's a reputable trailer tug in the $500 range? Maybe I'm wasting my time?
Doing some research on motorized trailer movers I came across the Trailer Tug (~$350 un-powered). Looking at how...
I’ve tested locking the truck w/the Fob and key running; which works, but should try that with the window down and ‘break in’ and see about driving off...
I’ll have to try the remote start button when outside to see if it kicks over to ‘Remote Start’ mode, but I doubt it
Thanks for the replies y'all, I hope someone is using a powered jockey (whether DIY or bought)
Definitely - the frame is strong but the bracket is shaped like a "W" and the half round nearest the trailer body floats about 1/4" causing major flex.
Granted, the direction I'm moving the boat in...
@Trooper4 That's the setup I was thinking to go for but didn't believe it would weigh out; I'm looking up the Sandpiper line and curious what spec / model you're running. I'll likely go a similar route in the next year
We've been lucky enough to get our 22' Moomba Ski Boat into our Tandem garage but it's like threading a bent needle; I can get the boat all the way to the back with the truck, but the time it takes from after getting the boat through the door is excessive.... so I've resorted to pushing it...
What year/trim level Ram? and are you a daily/weekly/often user of the sunshade?
Curious to put context to that motor failure, thanks for posting your experience! (sucks that it happened)
Question (or to anyone with this) Sounds great!
How do you feel about the sound being right under the cab? Any exhaust smells? I'm still planning this but aiming to merge the 'cutout' back past the exhaust and into the duals to allow sound/exhaust to the rear.
