Yes they are reliable. Great trucks. Rated #1 for full sized trucks i believe so take that for what it is. However just like any other brand now a days they all have their issues, just a matter of pick your poison. As for the little "tick" you heard could have been, could not have been, before...

There should be no ghosting ****. Pull up to the shop and make them fix it, if they say they will buff it out, let them do that and if they make it worst, new rims for you. And If its on all 4 tires in the same spot from the looks of it, it was the Tire Changer Machine they have.

Set up is in my signature, when truck was stock i average 19mpg. Once i leveled and added the tires i average 16. If you want to lift your truck and add all terrains, MPG should be the least of your worries man. Shouldnt really be a thought, should just be expected. If it was should have went...
